Vehicle Type (section 5.2)
The FORMULA 4 CHAMPIONSHIP is for Competitors participating in single seater, rear engined racing cars, in four categories: –
Class A: Cars built after January 1st 1995; all F3 derived cars.
Class A2: Revelation 750 cars to manufacturer’s specification.
Class B: Cars built before 1st January 1995.
Class C: FFord Zetec cars.
Class D: Invitation class.
Engine (section 5.7)
There are 4 permitted engine options for classes A & B, being: -
A) Ford 1800 ZETEC
B) Series-production four-stroke motorcycle engines
C) Renault Laguna 2000cc 8V F3R
.
Suspension (section 5.8) As ‘proper’ single-seaters, all cars have fully-adjustable suspension.
Brakes (Section 5.11) FF Zetec as per the original regulations; others are free.
Transmission (section 5.9)
Maximum 4 speeds, but Renault is 5 and motorbikes as standard gearbox.
Tyres (Section 5.13)
Avon control compound slicks or Hoosier; wets are free.
Rounds (Section 1.5)
There are 14 rounds in the season, of which the best 12 count for the Championship.
Costs
Registration fee for the 2010 Season is £100.
750 Motor Club membership for 12 months is £50.00 including a joining fee.
