THE CAR-AUSTIN SEVEN MASON SPECIAL
This unique car is based on a 1933 Austin Seven chassis, was built by 750 Motor Club (MC) member Nev Mason in 1959/60 and registered with Kent County Council on 1 October 1960. Modelled on a Super Accessories “Cadet” body design, this car is the brainchild of Nev Mason and remains largely true to his vision. The body is comprised of a tubular space frame with aluminium sheeting and a fibreglass nose cone. Suspension is spring and shock absorbers. The engine is a “spit and hope”, 2-bearing Phoenix crank, 747cc Austin Seven engine with modifications, made to lower the profile. The gearbox is a 4-speed syncro with close ratio gears on third to top. The exhaust is a 4 into 2 design. The wheels are 15 inch Speedex alloys on the front and 15 inch wires on the back, the tyres are good. All the original build pictures and invoices (together with the prices!) come with the car. Raced with the 750MC since 2001. Changes made to original design include installation of a Phoenix crankshaft, high compression cylinder head and upgrading from 6 to 12 volt. The car has been Mot’d every year for the last 15 years.
SPARES
Include: heads, blocks, crankcases, cranks, camshafts, pistons, rods, gearbox, dynamo, a set of Austin Seven spanners and many other Austin Seven-related items.
RACING EQUIPMENT
Transponder. Fire extinguisher (in date), Race suit, underwear, gloves, boots, and full face helmet.
RACING
This car has been campaigned in the 750MC Trophy racing series every year since 2001 providing hours of great enjoyment if not spectacular success. It has been extremely reliable if not extremely fast but has won, for 8 of the 15 years, the Dingo Trophy given by Ken Cooke and awarded, each season, to the most successful road-going Austin Seven car. The car usually manages to win a trophy based on handicap at most race meetings.
TRAILER AND STRAPS
Based on a braked single axle caravan chassis with tailgate ramps which you lower and then just drive the car on/off. Also has electrics and a winch.
BOOKS
Circuit guide. The Austin Seven Manual by Doug Woodrow, 2 x Building and Racing My 750 by P J Stephens, Austin Seven Competition Cars 1922-1982 by Martin Eyre, Coleman’s Cars, Austin Seven Specials by L M (Bill) Williams, The Austin Seven by R J Wyatt, The Austin Seven Pictorial Tribute by R J Wyatt and 2 x 750MC publications; The Austin Seven Companion and Design for Competition.

Altogether a total racing package. All you need to do is have MSA licence, register for the 750 Trophy series, pay the entry fee and off you go. Or you could use it in the Bert Hadley Championship (sprints and hill climbs). Or just drive and enjoy it.

All this could be yours for only £10,000.
