Ron Champion Type Locost For Sale
Chassis, glassfibre panels and moulds built by Formula 1 engineer. Probably the best Locost built, last of seven built by him.
Chassis built to suit up to 6’4” person & Caterham crash/roll bar. Nose cone, side panels, rear body, rear wheel arch moulds all included.
Fully rebuilt Crossflow Escort Ghia 1600cc engine installed. Fully checked Escort four-speed gearbox fitted. New clutch, reconditioned alternator/starter/radiator and electric fan included.
Caterham bulkhead, headlights, rear lights, clam shell front wings all included, not fitted.
Ford steel wheels 6J, road tyres fitted (rolling chassis).
Aluminium seats and runners fitted – similar to Kirkey.
All glassfibre panels in orange fitted, including front cycle wings.
Dashboard and instruments similar to Caterham included, not fitted.
Mountney steering wheel on Herald/Elan type column fitted.
Dual circuit brakes, balance bar system, all new pads/shoes, copper pipework all fitted.
Cortina disc brakes and uprights fitted to front.
Propshaft professionally shortened and fitted.
High quality suspension links and wishbones on poly bushes fitted. Box section jig to make wishbones included.
Four branch manifold and exhaust fitted.
Alloy rocker cover, Weber downdraught carb (standard Ghia)., including linkage and air filter fitted.
Chassis has been coated in red oxide primer and back gloss metal paint.
Petrol tank/sender/pipework installed.
Car could be used for racing with easy swap to 1300cc and/or could be finished for road use. Wiring is required for either application.
The chassis number has been allocated and all paperwork will be supplied with the car – bills etc. All work carried out so far has been to conform to the IVA test.
Car will require trailer on collection. I am only looking to re-coup my financial outlay and not the thousands of hours of labour to get to this point.
