2017 Spire GT3s multiple championship winning car
2017 ex works originally driven by billy albone, won the championship in 2017.
Owned and driven by me since 2019, I have won the 750MC sports 1000 championship 4 times in this car in 2020, 21, 23 and 24. Making this 5 championships in total for the car.
Genuine reason for sale, didn’t compete all rounds of the championship this year but still won 6 races and numerous podiums.
These cars are capable of 1.23 lap around croft, sub 48s brands indy. It is impossible to go faster without spending twice as much to run a slicks and wings car.
The car has a 2016 CBR1000RR engine which has done half a seasons running and limited hours testing. I bought this engine from a breaker over winter and was fully rebuilt for 2025. This is the latest engine you can run in Sports 1000. The Cbr is the best in my opinion, and they are cheap and plentiful in supply unlike the Suzuki’s some cars run. This engine will run easily for another full season including testing assuming you look after it properly. This engine has the upgraded nova 3rd gear fitted, the standard 3rd gear is the Achilles heel of the Cbr engine when raced, it can shatter, best case you drop out of a race, worst case it scraps the entire engine. It is a must have.
Standard engine internals as per regs, ECU has been flashed / tuned on track with Woolwich kit to get rid of the power commander so it’s one less thing that could go wrong.
Mostly standard but some mods to reduce drag whilst still maintaining good aero balance.
The car has nitron 3 way dampers, which were serviced by raceshocksuk for 2025 over winter. Will not need touching for a couple of seasons.
Aim steering wheel, Evo 4 logger and full smartycam setup.
Sits on 3 piece force racing wheels, saving of approx 1kg per corner which nicely offset the move of control tyre when we changed to the heavier but fantastic nankang AR1. Two sets of force racing wheels with AR1 tyres fitted, and one set of team dynamics wheels with Avon cr28 wets fitted. Wets have only done a couple of races.
Front uprights are Tim gray Motorsport billet modular upgraded from the old steel uprights. They provide superior braking and have much more reliable wheel bearings.
AP front and rear master cylinders – much better than wildwood or any other generic girling type. Residual pressure valves front and rear as I used to have some pad knock back issues which these resolved.
Oil cooler and radiator are both TGM upgrades. The car runs happily at safe temps no matter the weather.
4-2-1 stainless TGM exhaust, best available, fitted last season. Thermomet cladded to manage engine bay temps / keep temp in exhaust gas for best flow.
TGM throttle and clutch cable upgrades, significantly improved and more reliable than standard.
Pierburg electric water pump.
Slightly enlarged fuel tank – was having surge issues at some circuits previously towards the end of races.
Adjustable front and rear anti roll bars of my own design with spares. “Dive bar” type 3rd element on front to provide some additional tuning for controlling dive on braking by use of an additional progressive bump stop.
Belts in date for another couple of years. Extinguisher was new in 2024 all correctly plumbed, will need a service for 26, relatively inexpensive. Also has a quick release handheld for added peace of mind if you have an issue a long way from a marshalls post.
Lithium battery and charger.
Chain has done 2 rounds. Rear wheel bearings and CV joints were lifed recently as were a number of rod ends etc. various spares, drive shaft, springs, joints, injectors, fuel pump etc. sprockets for every circuit.
Happy to help the buyer with general advice. I can attend and provide ongoing support / coaching at circuits for a fee if needed but these cars are very much do able running yourself.
Tim gray Motorsport / spire attend all meetings and carry spares for these cars and can also fully run you if you want to go that way, so plenty of options.
There is a big push coming from the 750MC to market and bolster grids, a lot of the meetings are live streamed and all are attended by professional photographers as well as coverage provided by autosport, so it would be a great time to get involved and if you want a car that can do the business, this is it. It is a great, helpful and friendly paddock to be a part of and I will very much miss being involved. Very cost effective championship also, tyres are limited to 3 sets a season, you can do it with two sets no bother. A set of AR1 dry tyres is £400.
Lots of onboards on my YouTube yarrow racing, and footage online from alpha live /750mc.
Two spare engines for sale / negotiation separately.
