Programme Information

This weekend marks the penultimate event of 750 Motor Club’s core 2024 racing calendar, which can only mean one thing – championship finals. Of the 12 formulae in action across 18 races, the majority will see winners crowned at the top of championship points tables; both overall and in-class for some formulae. Leon Morrell has added another title to his tally in the Radical Bikesports Championship with one meeting to spare, but it’s still all to play for in Class A, with Andrew Fido and Stephen Larkham topping the table ahead of Shane Stoney and James Keevil. We are also delighted to welcome a brace of SR1 models as guests this weekend, ahead of the entry-level Radical sports-racing cars joining 750MC as a standalone class next year as Bikesports becomes the Radical Club Challenge. We’re set for a showdown to round out the F1000 Championship season; these scintillating single seaters are racing three races this weekend. Both Matt Higginson and defending champion Tom Gadd have mathematical chances, but it is Rob Welham who is looking to add another crown to his 2022 title, against title rival and former Formula Vee champion Craig Pollard, who aims to be the first driver to claim championships in both 750MC single seater formulae in the modern era. Back for 2024 by Zamp Helmets, that aforementioned Formula Vee championship is also set to see two drivers go head-to-head this weekend. Both in AHS Dominators, Matt Harbot and Craig Bell have traded wins all season and come to Donington Park separated by just eight points, so it will likely go down to Sunday’s final outing. The pair may well also have 2024 debutant and former karting star Leon Frost in the mix, who has been been twice a winner so far this season. Whilst Ben Short has wrapped up the 2024 5Club MX-5 title, this Saturday’s racing is set to bring the largest turnout of the year for the evergreen roadsters.A total of 34 cars in are action and points are tight at the top, as defending champion Jordan Johnson, Oak Richardson and 5Club stalwart Ian Tomlinson battle for the remainder of the top positions. Look out also for the return of multi-experienced club racer Andy Baylie for the first time since Thruxton in May. Mid-engined Japanese sports cars are in action for the National Lighting Toyota MR2 Championship, where just six points separate multiple former champion Shaun Traynor from defending champion Adam Lockwood. Last year’s title went down to the wire in the final race at Oulton Park, and it looks like the stage may well be set for a repeat of the same on Sunday. 750MC Type R Trophy graduates Samuel Dennis & Ash Moor have wrapped up the overall and Class C Tegiwa Club Enduro Championship with a meeting to spare in their Motion Motorsport EP3 Honda Civic, but things look close elsewhere. Darkside Developments’ defending champion Scott Parkin has moved from his VW Golf to an Audi TT for the new season, and currently tops the Class A table ahead of brother Ryan partnered with Dylan Brychta. The Class A points tally is however just one apart from Class B leaders Matthew Tidmarsh & Chris Webster; the duo having really got to grips with the development of their self-prepared Ginetta G40. Expect to see many of those cars in action in Saturday’s Tegiwa Roadsports race, which brings a capacity grid here to Donington. Alongside regulars, look out for former BMW Car Club Racing class champion Graham Crowhurst in his eye-catching art-car replica E46 BMW M3 in Class A, and look out also for the return of Josh Lawton for the first time this season; swapping his giant-killing self-developed EG Honda Civic for co-driver David Blackie’s BMW E92 M2.

116 Trophy Series

Bikesports was introduced in 2005 and caters for ‘slicks and wings’ sports-racing cars of any make, fitted only with a production four-stroke motorbike engine and gearbox.Classes cater for both tuned and ‘standard’ specification motorbike engines, and the structure means it is the UK racing home for non-current Radical models
