F1000 Championship

Overview

Since its launch in 1997 the F1000 Championship (formerly Formula Jedi) has provided exciting, cost-effective racing and has established itself as the premier bike-engined, single-seater category in the UK. Ideal for the novice or serious club racer, F1000 also offers a proven and affordable route onto the single-seater ladder from karting.

History

The founding principle was to create a non-development championship based on economical competition in terms of initial outlay, running costs and with provide uniform performance. This is truly some of the fastest and most competitive single-seater racing in the country. Using a proven ‘slicks and wings’ racing car powered by a 1000cc motorbike engine and standard sequential gearbox, the light weight build results in 0-60mph in just 3 seconds and on to 150mph, while revving to around 14000rpm.

Chassis

Mk6/7 Jedi. Motorsport UK-homologated tubular steel spaceframe chassis with removable GRP seven-part bodywork. Built-in front end crash structure, removable foot box protection, side impact bars and anti-intrusion plates. Fitted with stressed aluminium plates for extra rigidity. MIRA tested, Motorsport UK-certified ROPS.

Engine & Transmission

The number of gears must be as per original for that particular engine. Only manually operated gear change systems are permitted.

Suspension & Brakes

Fully adjustable unequal length wishbone suspension with double adjustable coil over Jedi Racing-spec dampers. Two-pot AP/Brembo calipers front and rear with solid grooved discs.
