Rare opportunity to purchase a Darvi MK5 750 Formula car.
This car was rebuilt by Tony Southgate (Jaguar Le Mans car designer) with pull rod front suspension and repositioned engine, tilted to 45 degrees and dry sumped. Meaning the centre of gravity on this car is excellent, along with the low bodywork makes this a quick car. (The car is on the button and ready to go.)
Testing at Silverstone before the race we had a 112 mph into Cobbs, 99 mph apex speed and 114 mph into Maggots. Although our best lap time was only a 1.07.9, this was due to other mechanical issues that have now been resolved, mainly brake balance and an oil leak out of the dry sump pump. These have all now been fixed.
I was genuinely expecting to be in the high 1:06’s, but unfortunately mechanical issues persisted into the race. This car has had a lot of money spent on it over the last year:
- All new molds made for side-pod and nose cones
- Brand new shock absorbers, double adjustable Protex
- New front nose cone support structure (spare)
- New radiator
- There are various suspension parts – springs, spare set of double adjustable Avo shocks
- 4 new wet tyres
- 4 little used slicks
- Brand new fire extinguisher system
- 2 new spare side pods
The car has been completely set up by John Lee, both in terms of suspension and the engine.
The engine was built by Stuart Drake, who now works for Anthony Denham. When this engine was on John Lee’s rolling road, it was the best one he had had. And lots of time and effort, at least 4 trips to the rolling road, was spent messing around with inlets to great effect.
This car is in my opinion a bargain, I don’t believe it’s possible to buy a car with more potential for anywhere near this money. £7,980
