120 Coupe Cup

Created by the same technical development team as the hugely popular 116 Trophy endurance offering, this new series uses the first generation 120i Coupe as the basis for an exciting and attractive new one-make 190bhp BMW sprint formula. Donor cars are plentiful and great value, whilst the conversion to a 120 Coupe Cup race car uses all the same proven chassis control parts and incredible value build costs as the 116 Trophy.

Engine

Standard N43 B20 engine. There is a throttle body upgrade, replacement sports exhaust/catalyst (£450 inc. VAT and delivery) and ECU re-flash (£250 inc. VAT & delivery), but the engine remains largely standard.

Suspension

The 120 Coupe Cup uses a control coilover damper kit from GAZ Shocks, adjustable at the rear only for equality, simplicity, budget and to reduce complication for newcomers. The kit includes adjustable billet front top mounts and is priced at just £778 inc. VAT and delivery to registered drivers.

Brakes

Brakes remain standard, but pad choice is free. Discount deals are available to registered drivers.

Transmission

Standard six-speed manual, and the dual mass flywheel may be replaced by a single mass option if desired.

Wheels & Tyres

All cars run on Nankang control tyres. Wheels are any 16" OEM BMW subject to regulations, or Revolution CR10.

Chassis

There is a mandatory 'control' roll cage for the 120 Coupe Cup, priced at £1392 inc. VAT.

Rounds

There are 12 races (six double-headers) planned in the 2024 calendar.

Entry Costs

750 Motor Club racing membership is just £95 for 12 months, season registration is £135 per driver, and 2024 race entry fees will average at around £385 per double-header (1 x 15min qualifying, 2 x 15min races) at different venues. Roadgoing donor cars are available secondhand from just £2500. Complete 'Arrive & Drive' packages are available from very competitive rates for those who would rather not own and run their own car - see the Arrive & Drive tab in the sub-menu.
