Paul Arch 1945 - 2021
Thu 18 Nov 2021
It was with great shock that Avril and I received the news that Paul Arch had unexpectedly passed away on September 26th only two weeks after he been working with us on the 750MC timing team at Brands Hatch.
A trained engineer, Paul started working after he finished college in his father’s agricultural engineers and, after taking over from his father, continued to run the company until he retired. Paul enjoyed nothing more than making things, especially those that were a bit different. When a flimsy, plastic, spindle in our printing clock broke Paul fabricated a superb steel replacement.
Cars were never far from Paul’s heart, and he was a member of his local motor club for whom he used to marshal on rallies. This took him into timekeeping and Paul was a regular on 750MC timing teams for over 30 years, as well as working on timing teams for VSCC. Paul also liked a challenge and restored a MGB GT for his wife, Hazel, as well as owning his dream car, a Lotus Europa in JPS colours, which Hazel refused to travel in after a wheel fell off!
A friendly and extremely competent motorsport timekeeper, Paul will be sorely missed.
