As a well-loved mainstay of the club racing calendar, 750 Motor Club are honoured to be running Mallory Park’s legendary
Plum Pudding race meeting once again for the 2022 season – taking place as ever on Boxing Day – 26
th December.
This traditional event is the ideal opportunity to dust off the cobwebs and enjoy one last race in the season, at an event that features some unique elements – not least of which is the qualifying procedure. This is not set by traditional fastest laps in the practice session, but by the competitor who is fastest in terms of their race entry! That driver takes pole position with the remainder of the grid in entry order, whilst the second race of the day is set with a complete reverse grid from the Race 1 results.
The above qualifying format happens twice for the day’s two race types – once for all saloon cars/tin-tops (such as Civics, Clios, BMWs, Saxos, Alfa Romeos etc), and once for sports/sports-racers (for example MX-5s and MR2s through to Lotus, TVRs, Radicals, Caterhams, Locosts and Sports 1000 machinery). As a result, the event sees a huge variety of machinery in action throughout the day on Mallory’s exciting 1.35-mile circuit layout - and two races for each type.
The double-header entry fee is £160 for either class, or £190 if two drivers wish to share a car with one race each. Note that second drivers will also need to complete a separate entry form.
That’s not all, since in addition to the four car races, attendees will also compete alongside a trio of motorcycle races organised by the
East Midland Racing Association, not to mention what’s usually an impressive spectator turnout looking on for this most traditional of seasonal competitive events.
Remember to enter early for the best starting place possible on the grid! Final Instructions will be available closer to the time, but the first practice session should typically be on track around 10am with the last race starting at approximately 14:30.
