Sport Specials Championship Opens Up For 2025
Mon 02 Dec 2024
The
FreakyParts-backed
Sport Specials Championship is a longstanding part of the 750 Motor Club portfolio - featuring a huge variety of manufacturers and models - and a number of changes are being introduced for 2025 that will see Sport Specials further bolster its position as the ultimate lightweight British sportscar racing championship.
The formula has always showcased the highlights of the small volume British sports car industry - offering some of the best performance per pound and friendliest paddock in UK circuit racing - and in order to better reflect the output from this sector of the market the following changes will be introduced:
- Class A will now permit front-engined motorbike powered cars under 1000cc
- The maximum weight limit now allows participation for various models of Lotus Elise and its platform-sharing derivates looking for a new sprint racing home
- A new Class D is being introduced for front-engined sports cars with a maximum power to weight ratio 230bhp per tonne; allowing models such as the Caterham 270R and Ginetta G40 plus Mazda MX-5-powered examples of popular kit cars such as the MK Indy and GBS Zero
- Sequential gearboxes will be permitted for derivatives of the popular Ginetta G40 model including the GT5
Full draft regulations will be available soon. For any initial questions, please email
