The 750 Motor Club at Autosport International 2016
Tue 19 Jan 2016
It has long been the traditional start to the racing year - albeit often more in terms of pre-season discussions, excitement and shopping rather than actual competition - and 2016 was no exception at Autosport International. The 750 Motor Club displayed in their maximum capacity from Thursday 14th until Sunday 17th, managing to fit a new record of 12 cars from the Club's formulae into the usual stand space at the Birmingham NEC.
As well as displaying models from current championships, the Club were pleased to introduce an M3 Cup car to the showgoing public for the first time, with one taking pride of place underneath one of the corner archways, as well as a sister car appearing on the Nankang tyre stand. Under the other arch sat a Radical to represent the Radical Owners' Club Bikesports Championship, and in between sat a Fiesta ST as a showcase racecar for Hot Hatch, a fondly missed formula relaunched at Autosport by the 750 Motor Club for 2016.
With classes divided by power to weight, attendees further cemented the excitement at the rekindling of such a competitive formula for tuned cars, yet one that is also hugely accessible at lower levels, allowing both a competitive entry point and scalable ladder to climb. Following on from various discussions, we're expecting to see all manner of machinery joining the series, from a raft of the aforementioned Fiestas to ex-Clio Cup cars, Ford Focuses, classic Minis, Saxos and even a few modified RWD BMW Compact hot hatchbacks. You can find out more about Hot Hatch here, and the full regulations will be released before the end of the month.
Finally, with the 750 Motor Club staff being inundated with competitors keen to express their intent for the new Club Enduro series, plus a Crosslé on the stand to represent our 750 Classic Interseries, interest in the new season's offerings never faltered throughout the full four days. The Club are also pleased to confirm new partners and sponsors on board for 2016, details of which will be announced shortly.
Next up in the exhibition diary is Race Retro in Warwickshire on 26th-28th February - we look forward to seeing you there.
