Event Preview

750 Motor Club returns to Croft this weekend for the second time in 2026, with eight formulae and 19 races on the schedule across the two-day programme. 

Things are tight at the top of the table in the Korniche 5Club MX-5 Cup Championship, as the longstanding roadster racing formula attends its penultimate event of the season with the biggest grid of this Croft weekend. Former 116 Sprint & 120 Coupe champion Matt Highcock leads the way, but after an extremely unlucky end to a race at Silverstone dropped him off the podium, the MHR driver will need to maximise his points from rivals this weekend before the Castle Combe finale. Former 750MC Radical champion and Croft local Simon Walker-Hansell is just a handful of points behind, as is 5Club newcomer Jake Paice.

The Mr Transit Swift Sport Challenge also brings a huge turnout to the North East, where former British GT racer James Saggers holds the advantage, with just Mallory Park left next month to round out the season. Multi-experienced racer Graham Coomes is his closest challenger following a consistent season to-date, ahead of super-quick teenager Lewis Stannard, whilst newcomer Sam Relf leads the Novice Class standings. 

Despite a last round to forget at Brands Hatch last month, Chris Bradbury tops the table in the Nankang Tyre Locost Championship heading into this weekend’s season finale. The former oval racer has claimed five victories so far, whilst former MR2 Championship frontrunner Lewis Ward sits in second and Ian Hardy in third. With three races on the timetable, both are still in with a chance at the title here at Croft – this will be one formula not to miss. 

Following on from Silverstone success, Dan Polley is certainly odds-on favourite to secure the Sustain Fuels Formula Vee Championship in 2026 to add to his former Irish Vee title, but he’ll still need to generate some points this weekend to keep Vaughn Jones, John Hughes and Rik Lanyi out of reach.

Polley’s WEV Vee holds the lap record here in the hands of former champion Craig Pollard, who also holds that same accolade from his time in the Disklok F1000 Championship, despite not competing in either here this weekend. It is Tom Westworth who leads the 2026 way in the F1000 points table thanks to four victories and six second place finishes, however defending champion Matt Higginson will be looking to claim back the points deficit here at Croft. 

The Radical Club Challenge Championship will race this weekend on Saturday only, forming the penultimate event of their 2026 season. Pedro Oliveira and Leon Morrell lead Classes B and A respectively as well as taking the top two spots in the overall championship table, while next in line Martyn Ball and Robert Souster are tied on points at the head of Class C (for approachable SR1 models), before drop scores are taken into account. 

Finally, there is plenty of BMW 116 racing action this weekend, with two 116 Sprint races on Saturday followed by a 90-minute 116 Trophy endurance outing on Sunday. Peter Keen has carried on where he left off with his 2025 championship title in the sprints; currently leading the standings with two events and four races to go. Having progressed up the grid since joining in 2024, Yorkshireman Luke Fox has really cemented his place at the sharp end of the grid this season, and remains Keen’s closest contender for the title.
